I recently had the opportunity to fly with ZIPAIR, the hot topic in international low-cost carriers (LCC)! I’d like to share my impressions of the journey from Narita Airport to Waikiki. If you’re wondering, “What is ZIPAIR?” be sure to check out my previous post for an overview!
Let’s check in at Narita Airport!
ZIPAIR operates from Terminal 1 at Narita Airport.
Check-in starts about 3 hours before departure.
There is a counter located in the North Wing.
ZIPAIR offers three check-in methods.
1.Counter Check-In
For those who are not eligible for mobile check-in, please complete your check-in at the airport counter between 3 hours and 1 hour before your flight. If you miss the deadline, you will not be able to board, so be sure to arrive early.
2.Self-Service Check-In Machines
Self-service check-in machines are available for some flights departing from Narita Airport. If you have baggage to check, please ensure you drop it off at the check-in counter or the self-service baggage drop machines at least 1 hour before departure. Once the deadline has passed, you will no longer be able to check in your baggage.
3.Mobile Check-In
You can check in using your smartphone or tablet starting 24 hours before departure. Please use the mobile check-in email notification or the reservation details screen to proceed. Have your passport ready for authentication. Note that this service may not yet be available for all routes.
We checked our reservation at the self-service check-in machine, printed our boarding passes, and then queued up at the baggage drop-off line.
The size and weight of each piece of luggage are predetermined, and the weight will be measured during check-in.
What are the size and weight restrictions for ZIPAIR’s carry-on and checked baggage?
・Carry-On Baggage
- Each passenger is allowed up to two carry-on items, with a total weight limit of 7 kg free of charge.
- Weight will be measured collectively!
- For two people, the limit is 14 kg. For example, you can bring a 10 kg bag and a 4 kg bag for free.
- The allowable dimensions are:
- First bag: 40 × 25 × 55 cm
- Second bag: 35 × 25 × 45 cm
- You can pay an additional fee to bring a total of up to 15 kg. This must be purchased at least 24 hours before departure, as you cannot pay for additional carry-on baggage at the airport on the day of your flight.
- If you exceed the weight limit, you will need to check your baggage.
- If a tag gets torn off before you reach the gate, you can inform the staff, and they will reattach it for you.
・Checked Baggage
- The first checked bag is subject to a fee.
- The maximum size for a single checked bag is a total of 203 cm (sum of all three dimensions).
- You can check up to a maximum of 5 bags per person.
- This policy allows for more generous size limits compared to standard regulations, and the weight limit is flexible as well, allowing up to 30 kg per bag.
- For the latest information on checked baggage fees, please check ZIPAIR’s official website.
