Exploring ZIPAIR: A New Way to Travel

Have you heard about ZIPAIR, the new low-cost carrier (LCC) launched by Japan Airlines? With the recent yen depreciation against the dollar, traveling to Japan has become more affordable than ever! Plus, ZIPAIR offers the bonus of no fuel surcharge.

 ”NEW BASIC” Airline

I recently had the opportunity to fly ZIPAIR on a family trip from Narita to Honolulu, and I’m excited to share my experience!

What is ZIPAIR?

ZIPAIR is Japan’s first mid-distance international low-cost carrier, operating under Japan Airlines. As of March 2024, it connects Narita Airport to nine destinations, including Los Angeles, Hawaii, Singapore, Bangkok, Seoul, Manila, Vancouver, San Francisco, and San Jose.

Key Features of ZIPAIR:

  • Affordable Fares: Ticket prices are competitively low, including fuel surcharges!
  • Family-Friendly: Kids under 6 years old can have a guaranteed adjacent seat next to a parent at a flat fee.
  • Simple Service: The airline focuses on essential services; the ticket price only covers seat usage.
  • Seating Options: Choose between standard seats or business-class equivalent full-flat seats.
  • Optional Add-Ons: Meals, drinks, amenities, checked baggage, and seat selection are all available as extras.
  • Free Amenities: While there are no seatback monitors, passengers can enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi and AC power outlets.
  • Narita Hub: All flights depart from and arrive at Narita Airport.
  • Strict Cancellation Policy: Generally, tickets are non-refundable and non-changeable.

As an LCC backed by JAL, ZIPAIR maintains high safety standards, ensuring reliability with minimal delays. I found their pay-as-you-go model to be a smart, modern approach to air travel.

Stay tuned for my next post, where I’ll detail my check-in experience at the airport and share my thoughts on the flight itself! You won’t want to miss it!
